King graduated from Malaysian Institute of Art in 2001 and received his Bachelor of Art in Music from Xi An Conservatory of Music a year later. While working on his Artist Certificate in Guitar Performance, King was a teaching assistant at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  King was the Grand Prix Winner at the Selangor State and Kuala Lumpur Guitar Competition in 2000, Special Award at Western China Music Competition, and 2nd prize winner at UT Brownsville Guitar Festival and Competition in 2006. He was a guitar instructor at Gray School of Music from 2008 to 2017. King has been serving as a worship leader at Arlington Chinese Church for many years.
